Disclaimer:
These posts do not contain music you would expect to hear on FS.. but i guess that’s why i’m here so if this post somehow displeases you, i suggest you feast on some crème de la knob.

We throw genres around like used jimmy hats these days (that’s what i do with mine at least) but half of the bullshit names used are just ridiculous. I mean how do you really classify music from the likes of Flying Lotus? Future hop? Glitch hop? Instrumental hip hop? The point is who gives a shit. The same can be said for the songs and artists I post today. I’ve been listening to these bands for years and have read reviews where the sounds have been boxed into categories by the names of drone, shoegaze, post-rock (oh the ‘post’ prefix, what a downer) but just as before, who gives a shit. Keep an open mind and try not to pay attention to branding, you might discover something absolutely amazing and never look back.

Purple Confusion – Cloud in Your Eyes
School of Emotional Engineering – To Be Continued
Ben Frost – Theory of Machines

Heavy.
Now some background. Purple Confusion is a defunct group of the french label Gooom containing 2 artists from the now very popular M83, including the mastermind Anthony Gonzalez himself. School of Emotional Engineering is lead by Ben Frost, also the creator of the third song listed and is a Melbournian that now lives in Iceland. He’s also had succesful collaborations with the likes of Björk and holds no relation to the Australian visual artist of the same name. These songs come from 3 of my favourite albums ever written so if you like any of them, i highly suggest you get the respective album/s and listen to it/them from start to finish for 3 days straight.

1980 was a good year with lots of good music. It was also the year a certain dingo allegedly took someones baby. That however has nothing to do with anything.
Here are 3 songs from 1980, the last is an edit but the original still came from then so, whatever.

Kwick – Serious Business
Visage – Fade To Grey (12″ Mix)
Loredana Berté – Alto Mare (Rayko Drunk Edit)

Today i offer a short post containing 2 fantastic songs; an original and another which samples the original. Both are just as amazing as one another.

Fat Larry’s Band – Act Like You Know

The Whatnauts – Help Is On The Way (ET Edit)

Enjoy.

Going through some old things around the place, found this album that i haven’t listened to in at least 3 years which is truly a huge shame. Pasobionic is an Australian producer who has made beats for the likes of many hip hoppers however has only one release of his own. His solo release goes by the name of ‘Empty Beats For Lonley Rappers’ and it graced our ears in 2003.

It’s without a doubt one of my favourite beat tapes ever produced, definitely in the top 5. I’d say it competes both in similarity and awesomeness with Diplo’s ‘Florida’. In fact, i would basically say that this is the more adventurous and far-reaching follow up that Diplo never got around to making. That is before he started producing very average music and decided to remix every fucking thing he came across, i wouldn’t be surprised if he started remixing his food and his house but i digress (i still think you’re alright diplo), Pasobionic destroys the sound in the best way possible. A perfect mix of ambience, melancholy, rugged and gritty edges, aggravation and a constant skip between the past and future that leaves you wondering whether you’re actually listening to something from the present. As for the samples, this is probably the only release i’ve heard where i cannot pinpoint a single one, if that isn’t enough of an incentive to have a listen then i don’t know what is. It’s a humbling and serious piece, i wouldn’t reccomend it for someone who wants to party. I can’t pick a favourite, each track is just as good as the next so here’s a random one. If you like it, please buy it and support local talent.

The shit, like the bomb? But with italo incorporated, get it? Genius. Thank me later.
Here’s a few of those legendary disco-candy-melt-in-your-mouth tracks that i’ve had in rotation over the past week.

Mr Flagio – Take A Chance (Extended 12″ Version)

Giorgio Moroder – In The Middle Of The Knight

B.W.H – Livin’ Up (Putsch ’79)

Was driving home from the beloved’s house last night listening to some always interesting local radio and happened to stumble upon this gem.

Wax – Don’t Need

Checked out a couple of other tracks, really was’t a fan but if you feel so inclined take a look for yourself, you might enjoy it.
